My name is Maxwell Tabarrok, and I am a Math and Economics graduate from the University of Virginia. I use this blog to post my research and writing in the field of Progress Studies. This is a multi-disciplinary combination of economics, history, philosophy, and science. It is motivated by two observations. First is what Deirdre McCloskey calls “The Great Enrichment”, a massive increase in material living standards over the past 200 years. Second is Tyler Cowen’s “Great Stagnation”, a slowing down of the technological and economic progress since the 1970s.
